General Information
Leopard Geckos are lizards from a desert type environment, and in most cases live alone. They grow to be about 8-10 inches in size, where the males are the larger of the two. Their diet mostly consists of live insects.

Housing/Feeding
Leopard Geckos need a certain amount of space to live a healthy life. A single gecko can live in a 10 gal. tank, while if you plan to get more than one leo, you'll need a 20 gal. tank for 2-3 geckos. Never put more than one male in one tank.

A basic tank contains substrate(the material on the bottom of the tank), a dry hide, a humid hide, a heat source, and some decorations.

Sand, papertowels, or reptile carpet are suitable substrates. However, sand is highly dangerous to the gecko.

A dry hide should be on a cooler side of the tank, and a humid hide, which is just any plastic container with a hole big enough for the gecko to fit in, and a moist substrate (ie. moss or paper towel.), on the hot side.

A tank should have a heat source to provide a gecko energy. The best source is an undertank heater, while a heat lamp may be sufficient enough.

And to make your tank look better and more like a natural environment, decorations can be used, but not required. Some good decorations include rocks and drift wood, they also provide your gecko with a place to explore and exercise.

A gecko's main diet consists of live insects, and very rarely pinky mice. Geckos DO NOT eat any fruits or vegetables.

The insects that a gecko eats include: mealworms, crickets, waxworms, slikworms, and superworms. (the last 3 should be used sparingly)

To keep everything you should have a food bowl for the insects, a water dish for water, and a small dish for calcium.

Geckos should be fed about 5-6 times a week, and depends on the size, the amount. Usually a gecko will stop eating once it's full.

Cleaning/Breeding
A gecko will shed it's skin once in a while. They do it more often when younger. Once a gecko starts to shed, it will turn a milky color, and may refuse to eat. It will use a hard surface to peel it's skin off and then eat it. Make sure the skin is off the toes, tail, and head.

A gecko will use the bathroom in one place only. I recommend using a small piece of papertowel in that corner and simply replace evey time it's dirty.

The water should be changed daily, and any dead insects should be removed.

The breeding section will be added in the near future...
